My girl Erin Frost and I are featured in an article about collaborative couples in this month’s City Arts Magazine.
For their very first artistic collaboration, Shaun Kardinal and Erin Frost dove in headfirst—and unclothed. “Hardcore,” a five-minute-long close-up video of the couple making out, and an explicit self-portrait entitled “Some Velvet Morning” were hits at the 2010 Seattle Erotic Art Festival.
“It made sense at the time,” Kardinal says.
Cozied on the vintage couch in the one-bedroom they share on Capitol Hill, the couple is easygoing and intimate in conversation. They describe their first meeting, back in 2008, when Kardinal showed some of Frost’s photos at his old Pioneer Square gallery. Not long after, she hired him to design a website for her in exchange for one of her photos…

I’ve got some work featured in a book coming out next month. If you’re in New York, you should check out the launch party—July 3rd 7-9pm @ Family Business Gallery, 520 West 21st Street. Part of MEGABODEGA, a two-week pop-up shop focusing on fanzines, art books and magazines.
I was commissioned to create a piece about a favorite destination for the new travel issue of Australia’s YEN MAG. I chose Montana and worked in the style of my most recent series.
It just came out and I’m very excited to see a beautiful piece by friend and fellow Seattle artist Gala Bent on the opposite page!
